JANIE IS ONE YEAR OLD by Katherine Carey-Place 1878-1934

Father wears the broadest smile,
	Mother’s face is bright;
On the table there’s cake,
	Frosted snowy white,
With tiny candles pink,
	And so very small
Sheds a twinkling, merry light,
	Over one and all.
In a chair so grand and high,
	Sits the reigning queen,
Decked out in a fleecy gown,
	Ti be admired and seen.
Everyone is happy, smiling and gay,
	All the folks are calling,
On this auspicious day.

Wealth doesn’t count, nor jewels fine,
	What care for gold?
We have more than kings can count,
	Jane is one year old.
