Swallow at the Hallow in Baltimore
I love dive bars. The friendly no glamour feel of most of them always makes you feel at home. One my first trip to Baltimore we were looking for some where to eat when someone mentioned Swallow at the Hallow and that it had been featured on Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives and that Guy Fieri had visited it. That was good enough for me so off we headed.
Like most of Baltimore the only parking is on the street, but we lucked out and found a spot right beside the bar. We were greeted like old friends as we walked in. Like most dive bars it is small and intimate. It is rumored that at one point the building housed a bar with a barbershop (Interesting). Aaron Reinhart, the owner has done a fantastic job in planning out a great drinking and dining experience.
The menu is small but offers a great selection of items to try. I settled on a draft and the Blackened Tuna Pita. The beer was cold and the Pita was great. Everyone in my party of four were happy with their meals and the service.
The only word of caution is to NOT ask about the penguin (Think about it)
