RACIAL SEGREGATION by Gaylia Kenslow – Stogsdill

Racial segregation seems a problem in this land –
You read about it daily and you hear of it firsthand.
In a country such as this one, don’t you think it awfully small –
American was founded for liberty and justice for all.
I think that we should all go back to our country’s early days –
When the white race brought the Negros in to do their work and be their slaves.
If we’d give the Negros education, better homes and better jobs --
Work with them as brothers, for we’re all children of God –
Stand together staunch and tall – see each problem through –
We’d all be better people if these things we tried to do.
Remember how we got this country and what it means to us –
To keep our blessed freedom we must keep our faith and trust.
We must always be considerate whether dark or light –
Keeping in mind our equal creation – and that all should have equal rights.
