For as many times that Blackstones has changed hands, no one has been able to tame this establishment. One of the key factors to me is consistency. None of the owners, including the current ones have managed to make this happen. It is a gamble if the service is good or the food edible.

It is in a historical building in downtown Flint that once housed Blackstones men’s clothing. It is always clean and has a great feel to the room. But that is all it has going for it.

The last time I visited I had the brisket sandwich, which was nothing but fat. My wife had the chopped pork sandwich that consisted of over cooked and burnt pork. Both our fries were cold.

They had one waitress running the floor. There was also two hostess and the bartender but none offered to help the poor girl out. It wasn’t busy and they all just stood at their stations.

Drinks, when you ordered something, they actually had, took forever to come out.

The craft beer list is intensive, but after ordering two different, only to find out ten minutes later they were out, I ordered a Bud Light. Oh, and they were out of those. It was implied that they had some Bud in the back but the bartender was too busy to restock her bar. 

Since they first opened, I have had a love / hate relationship with them. I give up after a year or so and try them again. Sometimes it is a great dining experience. Sometimes it is the meal from hell. With all the other choices in downtown, this would be my last. Better yet I would just drive somewhere else.
