Crocus
The days begin to lengthen,
An occasional warm day appears.
The snow now dirty and gray,
Begins its slow drip, drip, drip.
Mother nature teases us with spring.
But like George Sontos, can’t be trusted.
She gives false hope by dangling signs before us.
Then spit in your face with ice and snow.
The devastation laid upon my soul,
Brought on by her sadistic actions,
Increases my deep depression.
And makes my mood dark and loathsome.
When all hope is mostly gone,
And despair fills my mind,
A little heartwarming gift appears,
Bursting through the snow.
Color appears in the ashen snow,
A winking purple bloom,
A scattering of green leaves
Gives a true sign of spring
Life begins to move forward,
With new found happiness and glee,
Why hello little crocus,
My spring time friend.
