I’M HUNGRY by Gaylia Kenslow Stogsdill

The “Coney” is closed and has been two days –
I’m hungry already – and double I’s pay –
To be able to order my burger and chips –
To just sit and talk while I eat and sip.
I don’t think it’s fair that the “owners” of “Coney” –
Can just go away while I eat “Boloney”.
I sit here and wonder how to ward off “starvation” –
While the “Diamonds” are off on a “tour of the Nation”.
Now I’ve got a stove, and I know how to use it –
But as “ya ‘all” know, I would never abuse it.
We’re getting cards now, saying you’re having “fun”.
But “those cards” don’t taste good on a “Hamburger Bun”.
So please hurry back and open your doors –
And please don’t take a vacation “no more”.
Oh! I won’t be that mean – a vacations’ “O.K.”.
If you’ll just manage to take one when we are away.
We’re starved!
