LITTLE PERIWINKLE PINK by Katherine Cary Place

Say, what do you think?
I know a little girl called Periwinkle Pink.
The last time I saw her, she was tiny as could be,
And the Red Bird that lives in my tall pine tree said,
“Last night when she went to bed, he peeked in her window”.
That is what he said,
And the Red Bird knows and he told me,
That she was a big, as big could be,
That the first thing we know, she have a beau,
Dear me, dear me, dear me.
So I said right away, “I had better write today,
To this naughty little Periwinkle Pink and tell her what I think”.
For she told me when the winter time was done,
I would come on her vacation, and we’d have a heap of fun.
So the Red Bird said, “He would fly right to her bed, and as quiet as a mouse,
We would leave this at her house”.
When he came back back, now what do you think?
All he would say was,
“Periwinkle Pink, Periwinkle Pink”.
