When you credit your time that is yours to keep,
As you sit at eve to rest,
And view each hour through the day be long,
Can you say I have done my best?
Did you smile on a little child today,
Did you help another along the way?
As lighten the load of a weary one?
If you did, you say to yourself, “Well done.
Tonight when you close your eyes in sleep,
Will your pillow softer be?
Will the duties done for some weary one bring sweet repose to thee?
If you have helped, though it be a smile,
As the clasp of a hand that’s true,
The keeper of time on the page that is yours,
Will credit it all to you.
