THE GREAT ADVENTURE by Katherine Cary Place
The woods are turning gorgeous hues,
The birds have flown away,
And a touch of winter cold is in the air,
Another autumn’s with us,
And another summer gone.
Again we’re looking forward,
To the springtime bright and fair.
No matter how old in years we have grown,
Nor how many winters have passed and done.
As soon as the snow drops fill the air,
Our thoughts like springtime bright and fair,
Will turn like flowers to the sun.
And so me thinks as I ponder here,
That when love and life have passed so bright.
We will open our eyes, and Lo behold,
Beautiful springtime (no more night),
And so our lives, like Autumn is,
We leave the splendors of color here,
Only to find at the journey's end,
Joy and springtime with color to blend.
Life everlasting (there is no end),
Springtime all the year.
