House of Joy by Gaylia Kenslow – Stogsdill

A town on a mountain –
	That miners call home –
This wee little boom town –
        Known as Jerome.
On the side of a mountain –
	With road curling back –
Just like a hairpin –
	And sharp as a tack.
The buildings all seem –
To be hanging on tight –
To the edge of the mountain –
‘ere they drop out of sight.
My favorite house in the –
	Whole town you see –
Is the “House of Joy” –
And ‘tween you and me –
I wonder how many who –
	Where caught by surprises –
Faced up to the music or –
	Ran outside and dived.
